Qualifications
Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and other staff members.
Familiarity with computer systems and software used for recording data and generating reports is an asset.
Previous experience in a similar role or relevant industry knowledge (waste management, recycling, etc.).
Proficiency in basic math skills for accurately weighing materials and processing fees.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with regulations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to waste handling and transportation.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including Saturdays.
Certification or training in relevant areas such as hazardous materials handling or scale operation may be preferred.
Duties
Weighing incoming and outgoing vehicles carrying waste materials.
Recording accurate weights and relevant information for each transaction.
Providing excellent customer service by assisting drivers with questions and concerns and directing them to the appropriate areas within the transfer station.
Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations during all weighing and waste handling activities.
Coordinating with other staff members to maintain a smooth flow of traffic and minimize congestion at the scales.
Maintaining organized records of transactions, including invoices, receipts, and other documentation as required.
Assisting with general tasks around the facility station as needed, such as cleaning, sorting materials, or directing traffic during busy periods.
Maintaining the yard around the scale house.
